Tonight is the annual Yankee evening in Bryant Park. If you’re in midtown, hit the lawn behind the NYPL and watch our Bombers try to salvage something from what’s been a calamitous trip to Baltimore. It’s a pretty night. Play Ball!
So are any YF’s hoping Pettitte sucks so that Joba can get in his 55-pitch workout?
I thought tonight was the Irwin Allen retrospective? Tough to tell the difference, I guess!
I was doing daddy stuff all game. Thought I might catch the end, but it wasn’t to be. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not sorry when I miss baseball because of my son, but seriously.. 23 IP, 11 H, 1 (??) BB, 21 Ks, 1 (??!) ER. Why can’t I set my DVR to “Mo”?
Rough game thread. Three SF posts – including one double-post – and one post-game YF contribution. I was MIA thanks to family stuff as well.
To your point AG, I totally agree – Mariano is beyond excellent this season, if that’s possible. It is like watching an alien with other-wordly powers pitch. A-Rod lets a ball roll through his legs with a one run lead in the 9th last night and Mo quickly gets the second out on the very next pitch and then closes it out with another feeble pop-up.
I like just watching how Mo pinpoints virtually every pitch in exactly the spot that Jorge/Molina/Moeller call for it. The guys barely have to move their mitts when he is on the mound. Yeah, it’s official: I am in love with Mariano Rivera.
My wife and I were talking about that too IH…he hits the glove nearly everytime. I don’t know if I just wasn’t paying that close attention in the past but it is very impressive…I guess you don’t become the best closer ever with one pitch by not being other-worldly accurate!
There is nothing id love more than to see Mo keep up this pace (or close to it) for the season and win the Cy Young he deserves based on his career performances….
