Rampart, Rampart! Sox-Rays Gamer II

Emergency was my favorite show when I was five or so. Here’s your Johnny Gage/Roy DeSoto emergency Sox gamer thread. Dix was such a hottie.

  • Jon Lester and IPK should take notes during Clay’s starts..not talent wise or anything, though he is more talented than both, but he works fast, and doesn’t overthink the situation and just pitches.

  • Man, Coco can track it.

    Brad April 26, 2008, 8:02 pm

    Dionysus April 26, 2008, 8:08 pm
  • Looking anemic so far. This team desperately needs a day off.

    Dionysus April 26, 2008, 8:12 pm
  • And we see some of Lowrie’s lack of range now. Lowell coulda had that. Im sick of this team beign sick.

    Dionysus April 26, 2008, 8:16 pm
  • Man, I’m not sure if I love the Sox enough to keep watching the Rays’ broadcast. WAY worse than YES.

    TJ April 26, 2008, 8:41 pm

    Polf April 26, 2008, 8:47 pm

    Polf April 26, 2008, 8:49 pm

    Brad April 26, 2008, 8:54 pm
  • Pena can pick it.

    Brad April 26, 2008, 8:56 pm
  • We may hold onto this 1 run, if only Oki and Paps pitch the 8th and 9th, if any one else from the pen pitches we might as well wish this game goodbye

    Polf April 26, 2008, 9:17 pm
  • Wish should be kiss, my excuse its very late here and i am tired

    Polf April 26, 2008, 9:18 pm
  • No rookie lumps tonight. I though first year guys were supposed to struggle all the time? I mean, I’ve been conditioned:?)

    Brad April 26, 2008, 9:21 pm
  • Youk sets the record for total chances without an error

    TJ April 26, 2008, 9:21 pm

    TJ April 26, 2008, 9:46 pm
  • absolutely, TJ.

    Brad April 26, 2008, 9:51 pm
  • What the HELL is up with the bullpen management the last couple days? (Of course, the real problem is that we can’t manage more than a couple dinky hits against the freaking DEVIL RAYS)

    Jackie (SF) April 26, 2008, 10:10 pm
  • Wow. That’s a tough one to swallow. Holy cow.

    Brad April 26, 2008, 10:12 pm
  • Dude, f*ck that noise.

    Devine April 26, 2008, 10:19 pm
  • What the f*ck was up with Francona’s Grady-Littlesque moment tonight? I thought for sure Buchholz was on a “one-baserunner-and-you’re-gone” leash.

    Atheose April 26, 2008, 11:22 pm
  • im still sitting here fuming! That was a completely bone headed decision by Francona.
First because they have intent to limit his innings this year, and while it was just 1 inning, it maybe an inning we could have used later this season.
He was at 100 pitches when the inning started, there was absoloutly no reason for Clay to be out there, he therw the best game a starter has thrown all season through 7 innings.
And even at the point he was sent out for the eight, once a runner got on base he should have been pulled.
The only circumstance where Clay should have been out there for the 8th was if he had a no hitter intact.

  • I was at the game last night. A couple of thoughts:
    1. The ump behind the plate was horrible. Youkilis was K’d earlier in the game in the same location that Buchholz put it against Dioner Navarro that should have been strike 3, just before his hit in the 8th. And I can see why Buchholz was left in, because the guy that homered had looked bad in every other at bat, and was barely over 200.
    2. Buchholz was dominant last night, bad pitch or no. Awesome pitching.
    3. Where is our offense?
    4. COW BELLS SUCK! What the hell do they have to do with Rays, or baseball, or anything else? My 8 year old asked me if we could round them all up and burn them. He also stated he would fight anyone that made fun of his Red Sox hat after the game. So I’m quite proud. :)
    5. Going to the game today. Please let us win. I cannot take a sweep. Ugh.
    Go Sox

  • Beckett brought his nasty with him.. three up three down swinging.

    TJ April 27, 2008, 1:55 pm
  • Another K. That 4 up, 4 Ks.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:09 pm
  • The poser ROY goes down looking.
5 Ks to open the game.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:10 pm
  • Hinske looking for – and gets – inside heat, singles to right.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:14 pm
  • Navarro doing an El Guapo impression.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:15 pm
  • six out, six strikeouts….awesome… maybe we can erase Rogah from the record book :p

    TJ April 27, 2008, 2:15 pm
  • Navarro goes down swinging, 6 outs, 6 K’s.
Might JB be challenging the Rationalizing One’s record for K’s in a game. 21 outs to go, he needs 15 to break it.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:17 pm
  • JB lets in a run on 2 errors; strikes out 2 of 3; 8Ks w/18 outs to go (provided RS lead after 8 innings.)

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:38 pm
  • I’d love to get the Big-Headed Liar off the record books.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:39 pm
  • Through 4 IP, Shields has thrown 45 pitches for TB. WTF is with the first-ball swinging? No patience at all.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:41 pm
  • Manny walks. Finally a deep count.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 2:55 pm
  • Iwamura K’s. That’s 10. 12 outs to go if RS can take the lead.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 3:13 pm
  • Through 5 innings, nine of the 10 K’s are to batters 1-5. Batters 6-9 have accounted for 1 K, and the game’s only run.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 3:14 pm
  • Red Sox waste a single, continue to show amazing impatience at the plate. This is what happened when they got swept in Toronto. Through 6 IP, Shields has thrown a whopping 72 pitches. Beckett, through 5, has thrown 80, also quite efficient.
    The offense remains AWOL.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 3:21 pm
  • Posada has a shoulder muscle tear, expected to go on DL Monday.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 3:37 pm
  • Beckett K’s No. 13, but gives up solo homer to Longoria. 2-0, TB.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 3:45 pm
  • MDC in for JB, hits first batter. Should be a great inning.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 3:54 pm
  • I’ll get a gamer up pronto.

    attackgerbil April 27, 2008, 3:57 pm
  • Oops never mind.. way too late. Sorry all you SFs, fell asleep on the job.

    attackgerbil April 27, 2008, 3:58 pm
  • Thanks but no thanks, AG.
This one isn’t worth commenting about.
RS about to piss away another great pitching start. OK, very good.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 4:01 pm
  • Attention: If anyone has seen the Red Sox offense, please call the guy in the gorilla suit.

    I'mBillMcNeal April 27, 2008, 4:07 pm
  • Question: who was Drew throwing to in that horrible 2 error inning? That ball went from his hand to the freaking dirt.

    bostondreamer April 28, 2008, 12:06 am
  • Silver lining: our starters have looked very solid. Who would have guess that the Rays(!)would have beaten three straight quality (if not great)starts by our rotation.
