Randy Post-Mortem: Pussy or Patsy?

Okay. The game is still in progress (10-2), but the thing is too ugly to watch at this point, and so we are forced to ruminate, much as we did last week, on another sad performance from Randy. Is he cooked? Has he lost it? Is it the knees? Is he too damned old and hobbled to have success? Or could it be all in his mind? Does he have the tools, but is just too gun-shy to use them properly? Is he afraid of the strike zone? Is he making bad decisions? Is the Johnson-Posada relationship toxic? We open the question to the field. But we do note that about this time last year we were calling for a certain first baseman to be permanently retired. But he seems to be doing okay these days. Hmm.

  • Can they send Johnson down, like they wanted to with Giambi?

  • Yeah. Right. But it’s okay to abandon it for AMERICAN IDOL???

  • I didn’t abandon ANYTHING. I just wasn’t watching it. But I was following it intently.
I like how you demean generations of baseball fans who came before us who didn’t have the technology of television. Were they not true fans? The arrogance, the arrogance.

  • Pathetic SF. I think we know who the one is with the mini balls. This isn’t 1923. You CHOSE not to watch the Yanks-Sox game. Because AMERICAN IDOL was more important to you. Ryan Seacrest over Papi. That’s your call baby. Don’t blame us.

  • Mussina carrying an already bad pitching rotation for the middle months of a baseball season? I love the sound of that.
Man, where’s the three game sets with KC at home when they they need it?
On a side note, the price for Clemens just went up exponentially for the Yankees. They need that hurler more than ever, and hopefully he was wathing tonight so as not to do anything stupid – like agree to it.
