It’ a pretty day, but we know you’re gonna be home watching tv all day, flicking between our Yanks and the team that once shared their stadium. It’s Snyder vs. Wright in the Bronx. And, yeah, the streak continues. Comment on the action right here.

  • TD for Toomer and the Yanks haven’t even begun! Good start to the day.

    YF September 17, 2006, 1:09 pm
  • So much for the good starts. Murphy gets his first dinger off of right. Everyone going long right off the bat today.
    Feh.

    YF September 17, 2006, 1:10 pm
  • Murphy takes Wright yard for his first MLB home run.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:10 pm
  • Not exactly the A lineups there for the Yanks.

    YF September 17, 2006, 1:12 pm
  • Wright walks Ortiz.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:14 pm
  • Now Youk singles to right. Wright: not sharp.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:15 pm
  • Yeah, 1 through 5 looks good, and then, well, ahem.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:16 pm
  • I’m watching NeSN and it is 2-2 count on Papi. What are you guys watching?

    Cape Codder September 17, 2006, 1:16 pm
  • Nixon two feet foul up the left field line from a double that would have scored at least one.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:17 pm
  • Wright just not helping his 4th-starter-in-the-playoffs chances here. Cory Lidle must be smiling a bit inside.

    YF September 17, 2006, 1:17 pm
  • NESN. Nixon down on strikes swinging.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:17 pm
  • Kapler to Cano 4-3 to end the inning.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:18 pm
  • Well, my NESN is way slower than yours.

    Cape Codder September 17, 2006, 1:18 pm
  • I’m watching NESN on DirecTV; don’t know if that makes a difference.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:20 pm
  • ArroyoSnyder starts off with a strike to Damon, then misses. Johnny takes ball two just a bit inside. The next pitch is popped to Youk just foul. One away.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:21 pm
  • Melky robbed on an appeal to third on a full count check swing at a pitch in the dirt. Horrible call; he didn’t offer.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:24 pm
  • Cano hits the ball through Cora’s legs for E4.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:25 pm
  • Snyder starts with two breaking balls against ARod, both for strikes. The 0-2 is a high fastball popped to right to end the inning. Kid’s curve is really snapping today.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 1:27 pm
  • Snyder just escaped a bases-loaded, no-outs jam with a flyout to foul territory, then two strikeouts (the last of Damon). Pretty cool.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 2:34 pm
  • After consecutive singles from Matsui, Guiel, and Wilson, Nick Green fouls out, Fasano Ks, and Damon ks to strand three runners, wasting a fine opportunity to blow this game open.

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 2:37 pm
  • Devine and I have a slightly different interpretation of the results of the Yankee 4th inning. :)

    attackgerbil September 17, 2006, 2:38 pm
  • one thing we can all agree on: this Sox lineup is horrible.

    SF September 17, 2006, 2:46 pm
  • Yep, horrifically bad.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 2:53 pm
  • #49 for the big man. Tie game.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 2:59 pm
  • Except for Papi of course. PAPI!!!
Closing in on Jimmy Foxx. A bright spot.

    SF September 17, 2006, 3:00 pm
  • Pretty good day for Wright after the rocky start.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:07 pm
  • Bryan Corey’s gamecast photo looks like Wallace from Wallace&Gromit.

    SF September 17, 2006, 3:10 pm
  • Dustin!

    SF September 17, 2006, 3:35 pm
  • A lengthy AB by Loretta leads to a 2-out double by Pedroia. One run in, and Ortiz will bat.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:36 pm
  • Or not, as the Yankees will IBB the guy. It’ll be Youkilis.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:36 pm
  • w00t!! 3-run double YOUK! Ortiz must have been winded at the end of that play.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:39 pm
  • So 6-2 Sox after 6 and a half.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:41 pm
  • Corey wants to give it back with a single and a 4-pitch walk to start the inning.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:47 pm
  • Foulke in, 1st and 3rd, 1 out, A-Rod.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:52 pm
  • Damon in on the sac fly. 2 out, runner at 1st, Matsui.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:54 pm
  • 6-3 after 7.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 3:54 pm
  • TD TOOMER!!!!!!!

    bloodyank78 September 17, 2006, 4:01 pm
  • Hey New Englanders,
What would be worse; the Yanks coming back to win this game and then winning the next to clinch, or the Pats losing to the Jets later today?

    bloodyank78 September 17, 2006, 4:04 pm
  • Who are these Pats and Jets you speak of?
Only kidding. Besides not watching football, I’m not qualified to comment as I’m not a New Englander anyway.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 4:09 pm
  • Abreu singles with 1 out.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 4:12 pm
  • DP Bernie Williams. 3-run lead for the Sox going into the 9th.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 4:13 pm
  • These Yanks aren’t coming back today Devine. Where the hell was this Foulke when the Sox needed him this year? He looks efficient.

    bloodyank78 September 17, 2006, 4:15 pm
  • Where the hell was this effort a month ago when this was a race?

    Rob September 17, 2006, 4:21 pm
  • Top half of the inning ends with Ortiz popping out to Cannizaro…so…who is that exactly?
    3-run lead. Hold on, Timlin.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 4:22 pm
  • No clinch this weekend. I’ve gotten all I could ask for.

    Devine September 17, 2006, 4:29 pm
  • Agree…and the Pats lead the Jets 7-0.

    Rob September 17, 2006, 4:31 pm
  • Congrats Sox fans. One more game and the 2006 “Snake v. Mongoose” is over.

    bloodyank78 September 17, 2006, 4:33 pm
  • And game….Sox 6-3

    Rob September 17, 2006, 4:33 pm
  • LOL BY…..I like that analogy

    Rob September 17, 2006, 4:34 pm
  • YF, if you’re out there, this Giants game is off the hook!!!

    bloodyank78 September 17, 2006, 4:54 pm
  • Wow, what a pathetic second half from the Eagles. Watched the entire game and the Giants had no business winning that game but for the Eagles crawling into a hole like a bunch of cowards, failing to make even basic plays which would have sealed the game. Thank god I don’t root for that team.

    SF September 17, 2006, 4:59 pm
  • Heh…I see I made the right choice by spending the day chilling in Central Park (a la A-Rod, but with the shirt on!). Wright had another solid outing, so far as I can tell, shame he didn’t get the W.
    Villone is cooked, isn’t he?

    yankeemonkey September 17, 2006, 5:17 pm
  • Looks like I picked a good day to go to the office and miss this game after the fourth.
Now to finish work, find a comfy seat somewhere and watch the second game.
