The Sox’ loss on Sunday was wrenching to watch — even as a Yankees fan I was crying uncle. Bobby V. summed things up by saying, “We’re three days in after losing our closer, and we’re still trying to figure it out.” Ummm.. yeah.
Fortunately, the Sox won’t face the wrath of the Fenway faithful quite yet as they head to Canadia for a set against Toronto. Felix Doubront gets the nod against the Jays while the Sox bats will hopefully keep the pop they showed in their last game, facing righty Henderson Alvarez.
Comment away.

Courtesy of Pete Abes, Doubront and Alvarez are from the save state in Venezuela, Carabobo. I wonder if Carabobo is Castro-friendly.
Same state. SAME. jeez.
On the state of the Sox and Yanks, I wonder – are our teams just too old?
Start time pushed back to 7:60 EDT to accommodate Jays opening festivities.
7:30. Good Gawd.
Pretty good pitching duel into the third.
RASMUS NEVER TOUCHED THE PLATE!
Rasmus didn’t touch the plate, but Salty did a crappy job. Tek would have stopped Rasmus cold 2 feet from the plate.
1st MLB inning for Yu Darvish: 4 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 2 K, 42 pitches, 22 for strikes.
I assume everyone is too disgusted by those at-bats from Salty and Aviles to comment.
Well, at least they won’t get shut out.
Darren Oliver – who knew he was with Toronto this year? 3 and out for the Sox thanks to Papi getting caught stealing.
Robertson must make it interesting. He is lucky the ump gifted him the Markakis K. First and third, one out. Of course, if he walks the bases loaded he’ll have them right where he wants them…
Oops – sorry s_w…wrong thread…
Some days, I really think giving up baseball would make me a better, less rage-prone person.
I had to get a prescription. For allergies and high colesterol, not the Red Sox.
Pretty good start from Dubront, and very good relief from Atchison (3 scoreless).
But the Sox are down, 2-1, heading into the 9th.
Sergio Santos in to close for Toronto.
PEDEY! Leads off with a double! LA-ZER!
Santos is beatable.
Here’s Gonzo.
Pedroia cares. (Homer earlier too for the Sox’ only run.)
Passed ball! Pedroier to 3rd.
So…uh, who pitches the bottom of the 9th if there is one?
Ace is warming.
Gonzo w/ sac fly to tie it.
Tied. Time to blow it in the bottom of the innig!
Sox have now forced blown saves vs. Tigers, Jays.
IBM: yeah, the offense in late innings has definitely not been the problem.
Wow – Sox got away with that one. Arencibia should have had him. Congrats.
Papi walks, Ross walks; D-Mac PR for Papi.
Cedar Rapids Ryan Sweeney w/ RBI single. 3-2 Sox.
Yee…haw?
Oh, what the hell? YEEHAW!
Phew.
News almost as good as the Sox win – Lagunitas just said on Twitter that they plan to open a brewery in Chicago.
That kicks some serious ass.
Back to the Sox …
Santos was brutal. He has two blown saves.
But the Sox made him work. They were patient.
And Ace was pretty damn good in the 9th.
