Congratulations to Johan Santana, an easy selection as the AL Cy Young award winner. (He was the only pitcher to receive any first place votes—28 of them.) Yankee Chien-Ming Wang narrowly beat out Roy Halladay for second place by pulling 3 more second-place votes (15-12), even though Halladay scored twice as many third-place votes (12-6). Thanks to the weighted scoring, Wang had an overall score of 51, Halladay 48. I’m sure it’s a happy night in Taiwan.

Congrats to Wang for being the best pitcher not named Santana!
Yeah, the kid had a good year, but hopefully some of those ground balls, which is every batter in the box all year, find some holes next year – D-Lowe style.
If the writers had any real smarts about their votes, Santana would be working on a threepeat this year. Oh well.
