Let’s hope it you’d not think it was the Fourth of July, meaning no fireworks from Barry Bonds, who is going for home run 750 after ringing up his latest last night against Proctor in a losing effort against the Bombers. Chien Ming Wang (7-4, 3.33) has given up a stingy four homers all season, and is going for his fifth straight victory in as many starts; he’s been particularly good in his last three, in which he’s logged 24 2/3 innings and given up 4 runs. Matt Morris (7-4, 3.21) is on the mound for the Giants and has a strikingly similar pitching line to Wanger, but was shelled in his last start, when the BoSox scored eight off the righty and chased him after four innings. Today’s affair is a FOX game, so fans won’t be left in the dark on the proceedings on this lovely Saturday. Comment away.

Previous post: Better Late Than Losing
sorry yf’s. fox couldn’t get through the first inning without showing dave roberts 04′ steal of second.
wow. posada gunned down at second by right fielder randy winn. a super nice throw by winn combined with jorges wheels made a sure double an out by 4 feet.
Wow, Morris sucks. Two out of every three curveballs are hangers and the Yankee hitters are just sitting on those. The last three Yankee hits (all for extra bases) have been on hanging curves.
OK, A-hole just singled on some other crappy Morris pitch, but the point stands. Morris blows. The Yankees should crush him.
Now its time for Girardi to kiss Bonds’ ass for making a “great play” on Posada’s base hit to left. Any left fielder besides Bonds including Manny makes that catch, but the fact that Bonds kept the ball in front of him instead of making the catch was “great.”
I wish Girardi had taken the O’s job just so I wouldn’t have to listen to his crap.
welcome back mm.
this has been a game of inches today. 3-0 yanks.
i guess colorado kinda blew their wad in the sox and yanks series. nice to be toronto.
Thanks!
Morris blows. Theres no good excuse for the Yankees to lose today. Not that I’d mind, but…
This just in:
Dave Roberts is good at beating the Yankees.
Double and RBI for Roberts! 3-1, Yankees.
Wang walks two and gives up a double, but is saved by the Giants offensive offense. Still 3-1, Yankees.
Apparently there’s a good reason Matt Morris has refrained from signing with an AL team.
This game is 4-1 now, but if you look at the hits you see how one-sided its really been. The Yankees have 11 hits and the Giants have two. Surprising that the Giants are only down by three.
Bochy really trying to milk every last bit of uselessness out of Morris…
This is the kind of game the Giants deserve to lose 10-1, but end up only losing 6-1.
Wow, I figured Bochy was squeezing Morris last inning as the pitcher’s spot came up in the bottom half, but he sends Morris out to hit for himself. The Giants will be lucky to be down by three after this inning, the way Morris is getting beaten on.
in that damon pepsi commercial….he looks out to me.
Tie game! Theres that Yankee bullpen I know and love.
winn ties the game at four on a single up the middle off bruney.
loaded for lamar.
You don’t often see Bonds swinging at pitches that far out of the zone.
2 and 2…
Bonds walks. Giants lead, 5-4.
Walking Bonds was the worst thing that Bruney could do.
bruney walks bonds to force in the go ahead run. this is not the bruney i saw to start this season.
Bruney is gone. Here comes… uh… someone.
Joe Torre is a really slow walker. Does he have hip or knee problems? I don’t mean to make fun of him in any way here – I sincerely don’t know.
You don’t see Jeter swing at pitches around his eyes very often. Thanks, Cap’n! By the way, YR OUT!
Jeter is hurt?
I can hardly hear myself over the din of all these Yankee fan comments. I think we should rename this site, “Sox Fan”.
oh they’ll show up now mm. a-rod ties it.
Uh, it might be time to give A-Rod the Bonds treatment. Why does anyone pitch to him, even in a one run game with none out and nobody on? He’s murder.
Why did they take Bonds out?!
sf- it was a double switch for defensive purposes at the end of the 8th. but that might have been a rhetorical question.
Yes, it was.
This game is a Yankees win, guaranteed.
Someone remind Thom “Oblivious” Brennamann that Bruce Bochy was thrown out like three innings ago. He keeps saying that Bochy took Bonds out for defensive purposes, but Bochy is probably in his office downing some Wild Turkey right now.
extras. ill. i guess bochey was smart to leave in morris for so long.
I have switched over to the Mets/A’s and am reminded that I still dislike Orlando Hernandez intensely.
Oh, and any Sox fans who want to play the “A-Rod isn’t clutch” card can stuff it. The guy is AWESOME. Throw a league average (or even slightly above league-average 3B) on that team and they’d be 15 games out, at least.
Ryan Klesko is one of my least favorite players of the last 15 years. I never understood why he and Mike Cameron got any respect at the plate – both guys have holes in their swings the size of Lake Okeechobee.
If the Yankees offered to give the Giants three baserunners and an opportunity to hit a ball off a tee, I am pretty sure they still wouldn’t be able to score. What an awful team. And I don’t mean this to disparage the Yankees – the Sox beat up on them last weekend.
Uh, why are they pitching to A-Rod with an open base and one down, a slow runner up next? This is seriously retarded.
And A-Rod doubles. That was just HIDEOUS managing. What game are these clowns in the Giants dugout watching?
God, I am so thankful (occasional vocal criticism and all) that Terry Francona manages the Sox.
Did they ever say why Jeter was hurt? Guessing it’s some sort of hip/hip flexor thing.
Jeter hurt himself diving back into first (so I heard from Moron Announcer Number 1 or 2)
Two outs in the thirteenth.
Apparently its Rivera in the Yankees bullpen and thats it. Here comes Clemens to throw in the bullpen.
OK, so Clemens has now stopped throwing and the Yankees are going to let the great Scott PROCTOR! hit. And by “hit” I mean “strikeout”.
See? Who says Proctor can’t stand there with a bat on his shoulders. Personally I think he was doing his Bobby Abreu impression.
Who had June 23rd in the “When is Scott Proctor’s arm going to physically fly off his body?” pool?
Boy, I hope this game ends soon so I can see “Cops.”
Base hit for the Giants!
a bunt! And Proctor, doing his best Julian Tavarez impression, underhands the ball from the far side of the mound.
Runner on second, one out.
Fly ball to center doesn’t get it done. Two outs, runner still on second. Its up to Omar “.180 OBP” Vizquel…
OH! Vizquel hits a liner down the left field line that lands just foul…
Proctor goes 3-1 to Vizquel.
And Vizquel just misses again! Another line drive down the left field line. This one was even closer. Missed by a foot. Full count….
Infield single for Vizquel! But the run doesn’t score. First and third with two outs.
Its up to some guy who’s name I can’t spell…
And he does it!!! Base hit! Giants Win!! Billy Crystal can kiss my rump!
I have no idea how the Yankees lost this game.
So is A-Rod’s homer off Papelbon still a turning point?
more importantly…does clutch still apply when your team loses.
Yes, it does. A-Rod’s homer was totally clutch. The rest of the team? Not so much.
Just got in to read about the heartbreaker. Or at least if my heart wasn’t already broken so many times..
