Season’s Farewells: Rays-Yanks Autumnal

Phil Hughes has the unenviable task of being the last bastion of hope for the Yankees on the bump, but even should he be PERFECT, it is entirely improbable that it would matter.

  • Nunez lead off gambit works as Robi brings him home. Hope lives for a few more minutes.

  • Richard Justice tweeted this bald: “A-Rod hitting .203 this month.” True. But also in the lineup tonight for September:
    Ichiro .193
    Stewart .138
    Nunez .296 but only a .333 OBP
    Wells .200
    Granderson .173
    Ryan .238
    Reynolds .179

The ugliness runs way deeper than the easy target.

  • The ugly has been running deep. The Yanks season has just been a series of bad luck injuries and some of the players underperforming. Phil Hughes needs to leave.

Will be interesting to see what the FO does to reload the team. Not many SP’s on the free agent list to snag. Saw an article talking about Bronson Arroyo being a good fit for Andy’s slot. Not sure if that ‘free spirit’ could be trapped into signing with them with the clean cut image.

Feel bad for you YF’s. It has been a painful season for you guys.
