One loss to the Royals, fine. But two? Not acceptable. It’s a 4:00 start this afternoon, but we’re gonna get you rollin’ on the game thread early. Jeremy Affeldt goes for KC; Wang on the hll for the Bombers. Time to take control of this series. Your place for comment is here….

Why do the Yankees get all the Saturday afternoon games, and we have to wait ’til nighttime for our Sox?
Why are they playing a holiday weekend game at night? It’s a travesty. They want young kids to get into baseball and then have a Memorial Day Saturday contest at 7pm? Dumb marketing, and unfair to the younguns.
Catastrophe strikes Team YF this morning. First the back goes out. Then the car dies (in Queens, no less; teach us to slum it in the boro of the Mets). Then the subway not running to our stop. Woof. The good news: we return to find the Yanks up 8-0 in the 5th, Wang tossing a one hitter. Okay, so they’re playing the Royals. Whatever. We’ll take it.
Uh-Oh. Looks like Wang might be cooked. Doubles, doubles, everywhere, and all in the air. BULLPEN!

A-Rod! Clutch. 9-2.

Well, it didn’t take the Royals long to revert to form…
Where were all these runs last night is what I want to know…
That seems to be the tale of the Yankees’ season thus far. 15-1 blowouts, then 3-2, 4-2 losses.
Seems to be the tale… but isn’t. Yanks’ last 14 wins have been 5 runs or less.
Soooo, not to pour oil on the Arod’s clutchness debate, but he’s got 3 rbi with 2 HRs in a blowout game. Does that count as meaningful? And I think if the score stands, he’ll have the game-winning rbi, too.
Hey; on the plus side, blowout wins and close losses are good for the run differential. =)
I was kind of hoping Alex would get that third home run. I was anxious to see how many knuckleheads out there would actually be criticizing a guy for hitting 3 dingers in a game. Oh well. I guess he’s not that clutch.
YF: haha. I know this has been brought up before but bears repeating: how many blowouts were that way BECAUSE of Arod? Probably quite a few. Oh well *shrug* Knuckleheads will be knuckleheads.
Oh by the way; Nick-Yf-
I picked up Melky as my 4th outfielder on my fantasy team,(I cut Nixon). The Rook has gotten himself 4 Ribbies today. I wholeheartedly agree w/you that he is one of the most positive developments for the Yank’s this season.
Ovah. 15-4. Stinnett, Melky, and Cairo carry the club, with a little help from Uncle Alex. Hoot.
Correction: Melky hit 3 RBI’s today.
A-Rod sure took his sweet assed time getting out of the batters box after admiring his first home run… where is the outrage? maybe Sweeney will have a little talk with him during batting practice tomorrow. he obviously has no respect for the game. he should probably get plunked on the backside tomorrow.
