Kevin Kernan in The Post: “Alex Rodriguez is a shell of his former self. Clearly, the time is ripe for Cano, 30, to move into a lead role with the Yankees.”
But will the Yankees pay for it? Should they pay for it?
If they’re not thinking they’ll pay him, now is as good a time as ever to start the re-stocking process. And also the time you get the absoute most in return. If they’re not gonna ante up the 180M+ that Boras is going to demand, they should absolutely be shopping him for awesome young talent now.
And, ARod has been a shell for the last three years, Kernan.
Also, It’s not something that I believe the Yankees should do.
That money will go a long way toward fixing some of the problems they’re going to be facing in the next two or three years.
Just my .02
Spot on, Brad. There’s no way the Yankees should pay the contract that he will demand (and deserves) if they are serious about fixing what got them into this mess in the first place.
My answers to your questions are:
1. I am leaning toward yes, but would only be a little surprised if it was no.
2. Probably not.
