Sox-Rays Finale: What, No Beanings?

Scott Kazmir is less than pleased, and surprise, it’s with Curt Schilling. Seems Curt took exception to Kazmir’s "hitting multiple batters every time" these last couple of years against the Red Sox, and spoke out about it.  We don’t really have much to say about this, except that as long as Kazmir’s pitches look just a tad larger than ol’ Curt’s brain all should be fine. Chat away.

  • Not for ‘nothin, but Youkilis is nasty. I’m so happy the club let him develop the way he should because now he’s ready for what’s being thrown at him.
Oh, and along with his gross OBP, and BA, he’s playing GG first base.

  • Sox look a tad futile (save Youk) against Kazmir tonight.

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:34 pm
  • Jeez, do I look stupid. Homer for Mohr!

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:34 pm
  • Is that Josh Bard or Ray Bourque?

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:35 pm
  • gamecastin again – how has bard looked handling the knuckle so far?

    Sean April 20, 2006, 7:36 pm
  • So far so good. But if my running commentary is any indication, I should just shut up. As soon as I say he’s doing ok there’ll be a passed ball and a baserunner.

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:41 pm
  • well if wake keeps this up, past balls wont be an issue as no ones been on base
    knock on wood

    Sean April 20, 2006, 7:45 pm
  • Banging my head against the table, Sean!

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:45 pm
  • how demoralizing must it be to hit behind bard? a gon is a superb defender, but i have a feeling that his hitting can eventually hurt us down the road. what do you think the likelihood is of the sox lookin for a new ss before the trade deadline?

    Sean April 20, 2006, 7:47 pm
  • Just like that, AG with the rope. Well done, Sean.

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:48 pm
  • This umpire is definitely squeezing Kazmir.

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:51 pm
  • Ortiz doesn’t appear to like hitting against Kazmir.

    SF April 20, 2006, 7:56 pm
  • how did tb’s defensive alignment look with ortiz up and a runner on. their 6OF defense seems to have been effective so far this series with no runners on. bold move thats had paid off

    Sean April 20, 2006, 7:57 pm
  • was the site just down?

    rk April 20, 2006, 8:20 pm
  • i dunno, last night ortiz was 0-3, but the previous night he hit two doubles against the shift. I don’t see any real point in the over-over-shift other than the psychological WTF factor.

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:21 pm
  • in other words: nobody other than Tampa will pick up the super-shift.

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:22 pm
  • Site was down for a few. No clue why. In the meantime, Wakefield had a mini-meltdown enabled by a Bard passed ball. Ugly ball.

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:24 pm
  • Playing Wily Mo, Bard, and Mohr on the same night is a little iffy. I know Mohr has already homered tonight, but still…

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:27 pm
  • not exactly 3 stellar OBP guys. then throw Gonzo into the mix.

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:28 pm
  • Well, the good news is that his pitch count is pretty high, so maybe we get into that bullpen pretty soon. It’s silly how good this kid pitches all the time and ends up getting the loss or ND because of the pen there.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:29 pm
  • It’s Tito’s Wakefield strategy. Didn’t work this weekend, so he went right back to it.

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:29 pm
  • airk:
No idea why Tito decides to play so many subs when Wake pitches, but if I were him, I’d be pissed.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:30 pm
  • Nice play by Loretta there.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:33 pm
  • For the Metro’s to trade this guy away, has to rank right up there with some of the stupidest front office decisions of ALL time.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:34 pm
  • Just talking to myself here? It’s okay, I have work to finish here anyhow.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:35 pm
  • *waves*

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:37 pm
  • Marky Mark with a nice single. Let’s get a rally goin’ here!

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:40 pm
  • For the first time this season, I’m confined to the lab tonight and not getting to watch NESN (I try to not make a habit of it), so I’m listening to EEI. It’s a great way to spend the night as Joe paints the picture of the ballpark and the action.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:40 pm
  • Having trouble with the site, but I am here. The Sox look clueless at the plate.

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:40 pm
  • Papi up with Loretta on first. Would be nice if Ortiz made good contact, but Kazmir has really been fooling him.

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:41 pm
  • Ortiz should’ve A-Rod chopped him! That’s what MVPs do!

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:42 pm
  • A single ties it up. Come on, Manny!

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:43 pm
  • C’Mon Manny!

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:44 pm
  • Why is Manny chasing that high stuff.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:45 pm
  • Their bullpen is warming. WOOHOOO!

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:45 pm
  • He’s going to go high on him again. Only makes sense. Hopefully Manny learned something on the first three.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:47 pm
  • Madden will probably burn Kazmir out by working him tooo long.

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:47 pm
  • Way to work it baby..
Lowell has hit the ball well tonight, so lets hope this kid takes the loss right now.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:48 pm
  • Kazmir got screwed on the check swing by Manny.

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:48 pm
  • 100th pitch for Kaz

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:48 pm
  • Sit fastball, and swing hard.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • yes he did, SF

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:49 pm
  • Kazmir possibly injured???

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:50 pm
  • what’s wrong with him????

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:50 pm
  • I told you Madden would burn him out! :P

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:51 pm
  • mysterious elbow (?) pain after throwing an ordinary pitch

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:51 pm
  • Kazmir leaves the game.

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:53 pm
  • bizarre. seems by his reaction that he felt something at the moment of the pitch, but felt fine afterward. doesn’t appear to be in pain at all.

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:53 pm
  • Travis Harper into the game.

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:55 pm
  • and Lowell flies out.

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:56 pm
  • and Gome homers. gahhhh

    airk April 20, 2006, 8:58 pm
  • That homer was mauled.

    SF April 20, 2006, 8:59 pm
  • crap.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 8:59 pm
  • Tito has to figure out who to play when Wakefield pitches. He can’t keep forcing Wake to throw shutouts. It’s neither fair nor smart.

    SF April 20, 2006, 9:00 pm
  • willie harris hitting for Wily MO Pena. WEIRD

    airk April 20, 2006, 9:05 pm
  • now nixon

    airk April 20, 2006, 9:06 pm
  • bah. 1,2,3

    airk April 20, 2006, 9:08 pm
  • I’ve seen him pull some dumb moves, but to PH a bad bad with no power over a bad bat with incredible power is silly. Why bring in Harris now, when you could be PRing for someone later in the game.
So much for my bullpen theory.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 9:16 pm
  • Now, who’s gonna run if Ortiz reaches second? Cora?

    Brad April 20, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • Youk did a SPLIT to try to catch that ball. Holy snikeys!

    rk April 20, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • edit:
    bad bad = bad bat.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 9:17 pm
  • haha I like bad bad!!

    airk April 20, 2006, 9:20 pm
  • whoever thought that Lowell would have a higher average than Manny at this point in the season, raise your hand.

    stuck working April 20, 2006, 9:20 pm
  • Psychocandy Tavarez into the game!!! LEt’s rummmble!

    airk April 20, 2006, 9:26 pm
  • yikes….. or, let’s have Gomes homer again!

    airk April 20, 2006, 9:27 pm
  • argh. We’re going to need somebody not named Timlin or Papelbon to step up from the bullpen. Tavarez is not looking steady at all.

    airk April 20, 2006, 9:30 pm
  • ditto that for Seanez. Let’s hope for Riske. But all will be well when Hansen gets here.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 9:32 pm
  • Jesus…

    Brad April 20, 2006, 9:33 pm
  • Foulke should have gotten the call to start with. The guy has been pretty good of late. Not Papelbon good, but good nonetheless.

    Brad April 20, 2006, 9:33 pm
  • i have no thoughts of a rally, given the bottom of our lineup. last year, there was hope.

    rk April 20, 2006, 9:45 pm
  • well, a good homestand nonetheless. i expexct a well-rested lineup to shell AJ Burnett tomorrow night.
