Buchholz has Lester beat in many of the relevant stats, but Lester does have a slightly better K:BB ratio, fewer walks in general (which kind of surprises me), and a slightly better WHIP (both just north of 1.00). An argument can be made for either pitcher as the ace of the staff so far, but why don’t we just say they’ve both been distinctly ace-like (ace-y? ace-ish?) and enjoy the show?
Lester tries to beat Buchholz to win #7 today. A dude with the handle of Axelrod opposes. Off we go.
