Gerbil is back from a short break spent off the grid amongst the trees and forest critters. Fortunately, tarps were needed only once. Unfortunately, it appears they have been needed in the Bronx, but the rain has let up. Comment away when and if they get this game going, with Jason Vargas pitching for Seattle and Freddy Garcia on the bump for the Bombers.
updated:
Royals-Sox just got underway, and since both games are east coasters starting at west-coast times, might as well join them up into one gamer.

Game is blacked out on mlb.tv for Oregonians.
Lester is looking good, but he’s working. 60 pitches through 4. He’ll be luckey to get through 6.
In the 2nd, Carl singled, stole second and scored on a Josh Reddick double.
Sorry. Carl reached on a fielder’s choice.
1-0, bottom 5. Time to open a can of whoop-ass on Kyle Davies.
Looked like Crawford checked that swing.
Reddick flies out to the track. Free baseball.
What a sweet diving grab by Reddick.
Pedroia with a good stop to end the Royals 10th.
Wow. Marco Scutaro single-handedly destroyed the Sox’ scoring chances there. Misses the squeeze sign, getting Reddick caught off third with one out, then thrown out trying to stretch a single. Ick.
Just set up Apple TV (mutual birthday/anniversary present), so my MLB TV subscription is finally on a screen larger than my laptop. Not sure whether I’ll be glad this is the inaugural game for it.
Ells, Pedroia and Gonzo due up in the bottom of the 13th. It happens here or not at all.
Ellsbury to third on a hard single by Gonzalez that bounces off Francoeur. No DPs Navarro!
Not quite as bad, but Navarro fouls out. Ortiz up. Smashed it, but right into the shift. Arghh.
Sox squandered too many chances then give up two in the 14th. Now Scuraro looking for redemption as the tying run with two outs.
He strikes out. Wow. Horrible. I guess when you win 1-0 in 16, you can’t really expect them to pull out the next one, too.
> Just set up Apple TV
Excellent, Paul. I have a Roku that I sometimes get to watch the games on, but typically I’m third in line to use the thing so its back to the laptop. Last night was one of those rare nights where I had dibs, so of course it was blacked out.
To be honest I care less about the outcome of the game and more about Lester’s nice performance. 9 baserunners in 5.1 is a bit too many, but his stuff looked good (though rusty).
Royals-Red Sox blacked out in the Pacific Northwest, Gerb? Odd.
We got apple TV specifically because of the fact that it has Netflix and MLB TV available for viewing straight on the TV. Roku and the others probably do, too, but if it’s Apple (and I have a reasonable need for it), then that’s what I’m getting.
Red Sox wasn’t blacked out.. M’s in the Bronx was (and is tonight as well) though.. FSNW has exclusivity I guess.
> Netflix and MLB TV
Yep.. same here; I wanted to ditch cable for good. Haven’t regretted it one bit. I’ve used both the Roku and the Apple TV. Both are fantastic.
