Double aside, that was a good inning from Tazawa. 13 pitches, and he worked himself out of otrouble.

LET’S GO YANKEES!!!
I found a feed online to watch the game…it’s not very high quality but then again, either is Memphis!!!
Let the rookie off the hook…not good. GAME! BURNETT SUCKS!!!

Hey look, another random strikezone. That ball 2 was better than strike 1.
FUCK YEAH! Ortiz doubles off the monster, scoring both runners. 2-0 Sox!
Also, great call sending VMart. It was CLOSE, but still good.

Burnett is garbage against good teams…sorry-ass piece of sh-t.
No sam, no cricket…i would rather watch cricket though than AJ sh-t the bed again.

Hinske seriously sucks in the field. I could tell that was a wall ball the second it was hit…gotta play that right.
In other news, I guess the shitty AJ is here today. Keep it at two guy…

Jason Bay singles! 3-0 Sox. I’m shocked they sent Papi home, though he ended up being much safer than I expected.

Papi motorin’. Very nice. Martinez and Ortiz scoring on those plays is huge considering their, uhhhh, speed.

Why the F-CK ISN’T JERRY PLAYING LF???? HINSKIE IS A BIG, FAT, SLOW, NO-ARMED DOUCHE IN THE OF!!!!

Cano’s lazy-ass is really getting tired. No comparison to Pedroia who actually plays hard…F-CKING LOSER!!!

the dude who inputs the gameday info is a YF. ortiz’s double was described as “Ortiz doubles (27) on a pop-up to shortstop Derek Jeter”. nice.

Tazawa doing a great Daisuke impression: lots of baserunners, but very few runs allowed.

No problem bro…enjoy your win.
Let’s see how many AJ gives up this inning???? I’ll take at least 2…

No breakthrough again for the yanks. AJ needs to quiet the sox and let the yanks bats do their things before its too late. Im off to the goat farm! Go yanks!

I know, sw. There’s no other reasonable reaction (well, mild bemusement and a pleasant sense of well-being, maybe).
Once again, they need every run. They keep hitting shots off Tazawa, they’re not all going to turn into outs at bases or line-outs.

My feed is down. Good. Don’t want to watch AJ suck any more ass anyways. Enjoy the win SF’s, rubber game tomorrow…

My friend texted me about an hour ago saying “Hey dude, the over/under for the Sox/Yanks game is 10.5 total runs. I took the under.” I told him he was an idiot, and that there would be more than 10 runs after 3 innings. Looks like that might end up true.
Pour it on, boys!

“If you don’t throw over 90 MPH, you have to have some deception” says McCarver.
As far as I can tell, Tazawa’s fastball sits around 91, 92.
Great curve to get A-Rod.

wow. tazawa threw some nasty looking wrinkles there. a-rod buckled on 3 different pitches in that sequence.

Sorry, I’m not trying to say the game is over, or that it’s “too late” to come back. Just that it seems like he didn’t start his real pitching until now, and that the game started 2 innings ago.

Cano has hit the wall twice today. Safe at 2nd this time, with Posada at 3rd.
Nice K! One more, once again, to strand a runner or two.

This one’s the equivalent of that Penny 6 IP, 0 ER outing against the Yanks. Plenty of luck involved this time for sure. 2 doubles, 6 singles, and 2 walks. Lucky, lucky, lucky. Was it 5 innings with a Yankee runner stranded at 3rd?

10-0. Nice palate cleanser after last night. Need 9 more outs. Nice to see the offense go double digit runs two nights in a row. Solid all week.

Classic Y/S game — it’s the bottom of the 6th and the Cubs/Dodgers game which started at the same time is already bottom of the 8th.

Sorry if this has already been discussed – I’ve been listening on my phone while doing errands. Wake is coming back on Wednesday!! Bye bye Penny?

RBF: Francona said that Penny’s fate depended on how Tazawa pitched today. Which, yeah, I think means Penny is finally, finally out of the rotation.
Jeez, Theo, why didn’t you trade him when you could??

Well, Bard gives up 1 run on 21 pitches. I guess a shutout was too much to ask for.

Just checked the score…1-12. Nice. This is exactly why we are not going to win anything in the post-season. AJ has never pitched in the playoffs, but we’ve seen him get ASS-POUNDED twice in Fenway already. CC, as you all love to point out, is horrible in the post-season and Tex is downright ARod-ish in the postseason with a what, .230 average?
F-ck this team. Crush the crap teams, lose to the good teams. Nice job you bunch of f-cking losers.
rant over.

RBF, I’m pumped to see Wake come back. He may not be spectacular, but he sure is goddamn consistent. Which is all we need in the bottom of our rotation right now.

Ath: really, Wakefield is consistent? That’s not how I’d describe his performance on a game-to-game level. And I love him.

7-13 against the Sox and Angels. Hopefully we get KC or Baltimore in the playoffs…

Tazaw-ya!!
Pleasantly surprised, for sure. Now we need to finish this off and have odd-year Beckett show up tomorrow.

I think we have to say consistent over the season. From game to game (or from pitch to pitch) he’s wildly unpredictable. But somehow it all regresses to a solid guy for the year.

Ortiz must have some great numbers over the last 60 days.
And who would have guessed that after giving up 20 runs in the first game that the Sox would be outscoring the Yankees for the series.

“And who would have guessed that after giving up 20 runs in the first game that the Sox would be outscoring the Yankees for the series.”
Um…I had no doubt. Sox fought the whole way last night, Yankees fold like the bunch of pussies that they are.

Classic rivalry AB there: Sox DH Rocco Baldelli pops out to Yankees SS Jerry Hairston Jr.

McCarver: “Papelbon dances after every world series he wins, which he’s done twice”
*Shakes head in disgust*

SF, I love the new “Jeeeeeeewwwwk” nickname for Youk. Hebrew Hammer 2.0?
Wow, Enrique Gonzalez has by far the ugliest Gameday photo on either team.

Ath, he kinds of looks like Julian Tavarez’s fat younger brother in that picture.

August OPS:
Pedroia: 1.003
Martinez: 0.970
Youkilis: 1.107
Ortiz: 0.849
Bay: 1.158
Drew: 0.966
Hell yeah

Since YFs seemed so weirdly riled up by it, I thought they’d like to know that Rice is either backing off his Jeter comments or truthfully saying they were misreported: http://www.cantstopthebleeding.com/?p=18941
Personally, I don’t see how this makes the comments any less stupid, but maybe this will appease the YFs that found themselves particularly bothered by his “get off my lawn”-style ramblings.

Missed today’s game entirely (and, as it turns out, very happily).
Posada’s post-game comments re: AJ shaking him off and throwing stuff other than what he called combined with AJ’s comments after the last game he pitched (when cross-ups between him and Posada led to one 3-run inning that ultimately cost the ballgame) are a horrible indication of what’s going on between these two and depressing given that they are both veterans if nothing else. Work this crap out between yourselves!!!!! And do it immediately before throwing another game away. Please?!?!? It’s almost September! Have you two not had a conversation about his yet?!? Step in here Joe. Please. Either assign Molina to AJ or – preferably – lock Jorge and AJ in a room until they work out whatever the hell they need to work out.

IH, the game was weird to watch. It seemed like in every at-bat AJ would shake him off, and Posada would jog out there and they would talk, then Posada would go back and it would happen again. It was clear they weren’t on the same page all night.
Also, did you see the video of AJ talking to himself after one of the homers?

i just hope AJ doesn’t turn into another randy johnson re. posada…they need to get their shi* toghether…
seriously, does anybody really listen to what rice says?…he’s a total fool…luckily that didn’t keep him out of the hall…well, maybe you could argue that it did for awhile, but you know what i mean…
what’s with these sox/yank games lately?…isn’t baseball cool?…you never know if you’re going to get a double-shutout marathon ending in the 15th, or a 31 run hitting exhibition…now in a game that the yankees supposedly have the edge in the starting pitcher matchup, we get this…that’s why they play ’em, and that’s why i watch ’em…

I watch them to see a 15-0 Yankee win every game!!! ;)
I fully expect Beckett to shut us out tonight, CC to get rocked and the Sox to get right back in the race like I’ve been saying all along…we don’t get to play sub-.500 teams in the playoffs.
7-13 against the Sox and Angels this year.

What are you talking about, lately. I think Paul should do a post examining the awesomeness of Sox vs. Yankees for the past decade, postseason doesn’t even have to be included. It seems like a cliche to say that you can’t take too much from these games because anything and everything seems to happen in them, but I believe it to be true. Like you said, even this year you have a 15-inning scoreless marathon, and a 31-run game.

IBM:
yes. Tazawa got out of the first two frames with lucky BABIP. I thought he was going to give up a few in a few, at the least. He did well.

I said it in the thread early yesterday:
I want a Posada/AJ dugout scuffle, and I want it asap.

I want a Posada/AJ dugout scuffle, and I want it asap.
This would be better than the A-Rod/Tek fight.
I just hope Posada remembers to take off his catcher’s gear beforehand–just to be sporting. ;-)

No Ath, I still haven’t seen the clip of AJ in the dugout – just getting back to the land of TV and i-net now – plan to watch the postgame just for AJ’s and Jorge’s comments – other than that I don’t plan to watch anything from yesterday. Happy to skip straight to tonight’s game.

Yeah, I don’t blame you IH. AJ was yelling “Why? Why? Why? Why? Why would you throw that? Why? Why?”
It was an emphatic exclamation point to the troubles he and Posada had all game.
I want a Posada/AJ dugout scuffle, and I want it asap.
No kidding. Since there’s no team that currently matches up with the Yankees, the least they could do is destroy themselves from the inside out.

When I saw AJ yelling that, I first thought that he was pissed at Posada for calling that pitch. I’d be interested to re-watch the sequence and see what he shook off and how they got to that pitch.
Earlier in the year (right around the US Open) Mike Francesa had Girardi on WFAN and openly asked him if Posada and Burnett got along, that he had heard from a little birdie that they don’t talk, can’t stand each other. Girardi evaded an answer, but eventually came out and said there wasn’t a problem. But that took about five minutes of prying from Francesa, to get out a commitment from Girardi that there isn’t an issue between the two of them. Seems hard to believe at this point.

“Since there’s no team that currently matches up with the Yankees, the least they could do is destroy themselves from the inside out.”
Besides the Angels and Sox, the two teams that own us and we’ll have to get through to win anything…
