Serious mancrush for Pedroia lately. The kid has been a ridiculous hitting machine this year. Good start.
That strike three looked outside to me. Let’s see if the ump holds that corner.
Kotchman rides it to the track but no. Long out.
Yeah, Pedroia has been really hot lately. He proves them right by doubling in the first inning too.
And Wake sets down the first 3 Angels on 9 pitches. Great start!
Youk has the 4th-most RBI’s in the AL? Wow.
Joe Morgan: “Isn’t it interesting how Varitek always gets a day off when Wakefield pitches?”
It’s sad that these announcers, whose only job is to know baseball, don’t know that Cash exists pretty much solely to catch Wake.
> Youk has the 4th-most…
and he has a career-high 17 dingers already. He’s bona-fide.
> Joe Morgan: “Isn’t it interesting”
Jon Miller is too nice to say, “no, it’s just a simple fact, Joe, and you would know this if you did any homework.”
Damn Vlad. I was hoping all the stats Morgan was reciting would reverse-jynx him.
Vlad is a strong man.
Back-to-back. Yikes.
Jon Miller: “That was a towering homer, that soared through the air majestically.”
As opposed to other homeruns, which are clumsy and ugly when they are hit.
Fuck, back-to-back.
Joe Morgan: “And both homers came on knuckleballs!”
This commentary is infuriating. Mute button, save me!
That’s great range by Pedroia.
I’m out, Ath.. good luck.
Yeah AG, Pedroia gets to a surprising amount of grounders.
Despite the homers, Wake is only at 23 pitches after 2.
See ya AG. Hopefully your absense will bring good things!
Jon Miller: “JD Drew homered in the All Star Game and was promptly awarded the MVP.”
If by “promptly” he means “four hours and 9 innings later”.
Manny doubles, scoring Pedroia from first! That’s what you get for not IBB’ing him this time!
Lowell ties it on a single, despite getting caught in a run down! 2-2 Sox.
Ath –
You’re making me glad I can only get the game on MLBRadio
Wake sneaks in the curveball!
Another great six innings by Wake so far – in spite of the two homers. Why don’t our hitters realize that this man deserves their support? Runs please!!
Coco draws a walk! How about a stolen base?
Coco’s stolen base pays off, as Vlad fails to catch one and the Sox take the lead 3-2.
Ugggh Vlad butchers a ball giving the Sox the lead.
Guerrero, Hunter and Anderson coming up for the Angels. No more homers please …
Vlad vlies out. One down.
Hunter pops out. Two down.
Wake does a great job against the 4-5-6 hitters, mixing in a bunch of fastballs and curveballs. 87 pitches after 7.
Anderson flies out. Brilliant inning from Wake. Delcarmen supposedly warming up, but with Wake at only 87 pitches I expect we’ll see him again for the 8th.
Goose Gossage says Joba should be in the ‘pen.

Me.
Lowell fails to check his swing, called out. Has some words for the ump, even though he did go pretty far.
Starting pitcher going deep into the game with a lead and 2ER given up… sounds eerily like yesterday. Go Wake!
Rivera leads off with a double. Damn.
FUCK, just like yesterday. Pull him?
And Kendrick ties it with another double.
That’s it for Wake. No win for him. I blame the offense. We do need to score more than 3 on occasion.
=P You guys trialing to FJM? ;) He is actually that awful though..
…aaaaaand Wakefield now up for the loss. 5-3 Angels.
And for the umpteenth time this season the bullpen cannot get the job done.
Our bullpen lives to score inherited runners.
Coco, Cash and Ellsbury up against K-Rod in the 9th. This game feels like it’s over already. Prove me wrong, guys.
Koko k’s. Looking, of course.
Holy shit that was an amazingly wierd play… swing and a miss for strike 3, but the ball bounces in the dirty, off catcher’s mask and flies back to K-Rod, who then throws him out at 1st.
God I hate K-Rod. Ellsbury is now 0-3 with 3 K’s against him.
K-Rod strikes out the side. And now, I’m sure we’ll be our usual brilliant selves in Seattle.
Everyone’s good when they play against Seattle! ;)
HAHAHAHA Joba on the ESPY’s singing “Don’t you remember you told me you love me babyyyyyyyyyyyyy”
That was actually pretty funny. Joba has gained a little bit of my respect.
Beckett had his award for “Best Championship Performance” stolen by Tiger, and now Lester has “Best moment” stolen by those softball girls. What a crappy night!
Sox actually playing under their expected win-loss right now, while Tampa Bay is playing over, and New York is about their expected (1 game over) Sox losing a few close games to the Angels makes the Angels the “luckiest” team in the league, it seems.
re: Atheose
I don’t know how long this will stay up, but found it here:

In last night’s game thread I was playing around a little bit with allitaration (e.g. Vlad vlies out …). I also did that once when Coco Crisp struck out looking. It now occurs to me that one should not do this when the letter K is involved. It was only meant as a little fun with K as in strike out and I want to apologize to Coco and anyone who might have been offended by this silly playfulness which could have been understood quite differently. It was way past midnight over here in Europe and I was not thinking properly. Very sorry.
Thanks Lar! That’s a lot more than they showed on the ESPY’s too.
The Williams sisters were hilarious auditioning too.
