Or maybe not. The Yanks managed but 1 run last night in Colorado; one of those frustrating outings that have been rare of late. The boys hit plenty of fly balls off Josh Fogg, but they couldn’t force on out of the park, and their free-swinging attack certainly helped the Colorado pitcher. Their big chance came in the 8th: a 2-out rally that brought Alex to the plate as the go-ahead run. He walked, but Jorge followed with a hard grounder to short off reliever LaTroy Hawkins for an easy force. End of threat. On the defensive side, Jorge managed first with no errors, and saved one for Derek with a leaping grab. Moose pitched effectively with his fastball, but seemed to have trouble getting a hard break on his knuckle-curve. Maybe it was the rare air. The big news for the Yanks: Andy Phillips replaces Josh Phelps on the roster. Six of one, half dozen of the other. Hopefully things go better this evening, with Pettitte going against Rox ace Jeff Francis. Don’t want to get their road trip off to an 0-2 start, especially with the Sox winning last night in Atlanta.
