So far this season, the Sox have been Rays kryptonite, 5-1 on the year. Today’s is a challenge as “easily a top 10 AL starter” Alex Cobb takes on “doing better than expected” John Lackey. Heck with it, though. ’08 still stings, and slaughter of the not-Devil Rays still feels excellent. Let’s get this AL East-laden next 10 games started off right (6 against Rays, 4 against Orioles).

Single, double, single. (Ellsbury, Victorino, Pedroia). Three batters into the game and the Sox have a 2-0 lead.
Sox end up scoring 6. First 8 reached.
Joyce homers to start the Rays’ 1st. Then Zobrist K’s.
Lackey gives two of them back (both home runs) before he gets out of the 1st. Fuckin’ Lackey.
Lackey is doing everything he can to let the Rays get the lead, though to his credit he pitched a clean 5th. It’s 6-4 Sox.
The Rays tie it in the 8th, but the Sox go ahead in the 10th on a 2-out, 2-run single for Salty. 8-6 Sox with Bailey attempting to close it out. And he gives up a homer. 8-7.
Wow. Walks Escobar. Fuckface.
Then Joyce. Wow, 2 on, nobody out.
Tie game. About to be over as the bases are loaded with 0 out and Longoria up.
Wow, got out of it. DP (home-1st), followed by a very bad bunt attempt.
Sox strand go-ahead run at 3rd on a bullshit strike 3 call by the ump on Pedroia. FUCK.
Uehara goes 2, giving up nussing. To the 13th!
The Sox have gone ahead in the 14th. Let’s see if it lasts with Morales pitching.
Up 2 going to the bottom of the inning.
And somehow, they pull it out. Both bullpens are in shambles to start the series. 6-1 against TB. Never trailed in the game. Fuck you, Tampa Bay.
