The Inevitable Has Happened: Yanks-Royals Gamer II

There seemed to be some technical difficulties with Typepad and, as a result, gamers did not go up. But all is fixed now.

So what do you get when you match Scott Elarton, a pitcher with a ridiculously high ERA, against these red-hot Bombers?

Seven runs in the first two innings.

The Yanks lead 7-2 heading to the bottom of the third. Comment on all the action here.

  • Just a general comment, but I remember hearing something about Dayton Moore wanting to be careful around the trade deadline, in order to hold on to a “winning culture” (I may be liberally paraphrasing). Um. Okay. That’s fine. Good young hitters coming into their own, and a good bullpen. But how in the hell do you justify giving Scott Elarton a start, if you’re trying to hold on to winning?

  • Amazing day for the wildcard race for the Yankees. Seattle and the Tigers get swept in their respective doubleheaders. Cleveland loses.
As long as the Yankees win the next two games, I don’t care what happens with Boston and Cleveland, because it’s good for the Yanks either way :)

  • After the way the Yankees handled their road trip to Colorado, SF and Baltimore after their winning streak in June, I was skeptical. They seem to be hitting on all cylinders now. It’s not even the end of July, and they are back in the Wild Card race and two Sox losses to Cleveland on the road from being back in the AL East race. As Lugo said, the Yankees were never out of it.

  • …two Sox losses to Cleveland
    So much for that.

  • Uh, Brad, there are two more games this series, don’t get too cocky.

  • ha, yeah I realized that after I posted. Four gamers throw me off. Sorry, 76.

  • SF is quick to point out that YF’s like to post when Yanks win. I hope this proves that this is totally not true! =P
But then again, this one got away early. All we need is the Yanks to keep on raking, and the Sox to lose one of these 1-run games!
And now Yanks have the 2nd best expected W-L. Because you know, that’s all that matters.. on the flip side though, we’re only 4.5 back on the WC. Reason to be optimistic!

Typepad was out of commission last night for a good part of the lead-in to the game and part of the game, driving away all traffic in it’s entirery. Nothing proven! ;-)

  • Ugh, forgot this was a four-gamer. Beckett v. Carmona could be another edge-of-your-seat affair… Let’s hope Carmona sees Papi and his legs turn to jello.

  • I’m actually looking forward to Beckett v. Carmona. Should be a great match up.

  • I agree. This matchup either ends up being another 1-0 or 3-2 game, or it ends up being 13-11!
We shall see. All I know is that Beckett better mix it up well because those Indian hitter love his fastball!
