Read Feinsand/Madden’s article about Cashman wining and dining Crawford.
Feinsand: Should the Yankees miss out on Lee, they could sign Crawford and trade one of their outfielders – Brett Gardner, considered to be a less expensive version of Crawford – for a starting pitcher.
I like Brett Gardner. He has certain skills that will keep him gainfully employed. I can’t help but feel bad for a guy that had a decent year for the Yankees that is now being juggled, but if the Bombers can sign Carl Crawford and trade Gardner for a starter? Yes, please. Brett Gardner is NOT a “less-expensive” version of Carl Crawford. Nor is he a less expensive version of Brett Gardner.
I am curious why this story is starts as an either/or.

Total agreement AG…with his speed, he should have a lot more SB’s. CC 2.0 cannot be stopped on the basepaths…Gardner stops himself.
Looks like Crawford to the sox instead…
Yep. Bummer.
I can’t believe I wasted “semi-constant gardner” on this non-story.
