The Price of History Redux

Hey Sox fans, want something to help you remember that very special 04 season? Forget the shops on Yawkey Way. Your best bet: the Yankees Clubhouse Store. Yesterday the Bombers announced a deal with Steiner Sports Memorabilia whereby everything not nailed down in Yankee Stadium will be auctioned or sold off, either on line or at one of the team’s franchise retailers. Already sold: a base from Game 7 of last year’s ALCS to a lucky Sox rooter for the low, low price of $100,000. Still available from that deciding game: home plate, a couple of bases, folding chairs from the Sox clubhouse, and a half-used bottle of Frizz-Eaze found in Johnny Damon’s locker.

More, you ask? The Post reports even greater opportunities for the coming season: …it won’t just be fans lucky enough to catch a foul ball who will be able to take home a souvenir. The deal will allow fans to pre-purchase a game ball for a game in which they have a ticket. Let’s go meta?
