I hope he does it, says former Commsioner Fay Vincent regarding ARod being suspended for life by current commissioner Bud Selig. “It’s right for baseball. The harder he comes down, the better it is for baseball.”

This is the same person that said, “The Union basically doesn’t trust the Ownership because collusion was a $280 million theft by Selig and Reinsdorf of that money from the players.”

I think I might have to look up the definition of theft, and then look up the definition of fraud, because I’m really confused right now about what owners and commissioners are saying.

  • From Joe Sheehan:

“The single most destructive act towards baseball in my lifetime isn’t a player cheating, isn’t Pete Rose betting, isn’t a team snorting coke and it isn’t baseball teams colluding. It’s 1994, and 1994 happened because Bud Selig called a play that a Supreme Court Justice saw right through. Alex Rodriguez could kidnap the NL Central, the Texas League and the Southeastern Conference, shoot them up with heroin and drop them off a barge and not violate XII.B to the extent that Selig has. $1.2 billion, multiple violations of labor law and a cancelled World Series; materially detrimental to the best interests of baseball in violation of federal law, indeed.”

    Glen Stout:

“What it is, including the suspensions being handed out now, is the most cynical CYA move ever imagined, designed to make it look like he was doing something while his larger policies and philosophies, from top to bottom, helped create, perpetuate and then celebrate the very climate he now seeks, belatedly, to control. And all to make sure his vaunted legacy, one that now pays him around $30 million annually – equal if not greater than any player – remains unstained, his bronze plaque untarnished.

If I really cared anymore, I’d say the sooner Bud Selig is in Cooperstown, and out of the game, the better. The problem is, I’m not sure I do.

    Some legacy.”

Anyway, those comments sort of sum up my feelings on the issue. It’s been a long time. Hope all is well with everyone!
