Sounds like a good old case of ‘Dead Arm’.
I remember when we used to wonder about injuries. Now we see them in the data for ourselves. Amazing.

My fear is it is his entire body.
He always did remind me of a zombie: slack-jawed, trouble speaking coherently, dead eyes…you could be on to something SF!

Well he was struggling with command early-on, so he probably took a bit off his velocity in order to throw strikes.
Regardless, that outing was god-awful.
