Detroit hosts the White Sox while the Twin City Twins host the Royals. Carl Pavano is pitching on three days rest (insert here unfunny truth that he couldn’t pitch on three years rest as a Yank) for the Twins against Luke Hochevar in the pinball pit Metrodome, while Justin Verlander faces John Danks at Tiger Stadium. Don’t you dare say Comerica. This is good stuff, this stuff.
Also, Tribe-Sox and Yanks-Rays iz going on. But only ’cause they hafta.
Comment away on any and all baseball and whatever other action in this Sunday thread.
p.s.: mrs. gerbil’s whole clan is from Deetroit. In the interest of family harmony (and future discord), go Tigers. 8 Mile. Sparky.
p.p.s.: I tried to come up with something clever for a title, but MagnumP.I.Fan vs. GarrisonKeillorFan just ain’t got no jangle.

Goooooo whatever it takes to make Tuesday’s game a reality.
Detroit up 1-0 on a bases loaded walk by Danks. But probably should’ve gotten more.
3-0 on a Raburn HR. Pavano better be clutch..
Verlander throwing the way he is though. Dominating.
Wow, both Twins and Tigers up 4-0. Can Pavano hold on?
Crazy catch, Granderson, to save a run, maybe more in the 8th. Tigers up 5-3 and rallying in the 8th.
Tying run to the plate with none out in Detroit.
One down on the not-quite-a-DP.
Tigers win! The 3rd game 163 in a row looks like a strong possibility.
8-4 Twins in the 6th, Royals threatening to get more with 2 down…
Looks like we’ll get a playoff game on Tuesday. Won’t be tomorrow cause of the Monday Night Football game.
10-4 after 7.5…looks cooked. Extra baseball!
Exciting stuff. Everybody’s playoff schedule still hangs on by Yank’s choice.
