Undefeated (To Stay!)

Your 3-0 Yanks continue in their undefeated ways, a trend we fully expect to see extended through November. What possible chance could those other teams have? Toward that end, some fun stuff from Tyler Kepner on Scott Proctor’s arsenal—"The Bird Ball," "The White Ball"—and, over on LoHud, The Captain answers questions from fans. (Our fave, from a couple in Norway, Q: “Could you throw a snowball from shortstop to first base?” A: “Oh, yeah. No question. Good snow, yeah.” Steve Lombardi provides a spot on analysis of the Forbes GM rankings, which give Cash the shaft (He’s behind Mike Flanagan, for goodness sake.) On the Banter, Cliff Corcoran (where does he find the time?) is breaking down all the ST action from Tampa. And for your pleasure, after the jump, Yankee hitting stats after 3 games.

  • I feel bad about Phillips’ horrible spring luck, but I really hope Phelps continues to hit well through April. Then he can be more of a full-time 1B-man, while Minky is used for defensive replacement, or when Wang is on the mound.

  • do spring training games count?…maybe bud will propose that they use them to determine who gets home field advantage in the all star game…boy then we really see some action…

  • I happen to like that league leading 1.33 team ERA, but we won’t get too excited about that yet. Heh.
Meanwhile, am looking forward to watching some of the Yank’s game today, with Carl Pavano making his spring debut, and the Sox-Twins matchup with Schilling going against Johan Santana.

  • Honestly, who cares about Forbes’ (that haven of fine sports analysis!) GM ranking? Does anyone read Newsweek for their car reviews?

  • It’s funny to me that Capt. Incredible thinks that his defense is NOT improved with A-Rod to his right. Has he looked at the differences between having A-Rod there in comparison to other third basemen he’s played with?

  • well brad, maybe that’s because captain incredible has been listening too much to you guys tell him that he has no range, makes too make errors to be a legit gg’r to believe he can get any better…how arod helps him with either of those things is beyond me…that notion always baffled me…if you agree with the premise at all, the way to look at it is the yankee infield is better as a whole because of arod’s presence rather than some other 3b, but jeter is still the same jeter, no range and too many errors…[i threw that last bit in so you’d agree]…

  • Good Day. An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered.
I am from Mexico and also now teach English, please tell me right I wrote the following sentence: “This focus, made as a warm process hair or disease, is administered on conditions that sustain more also when they are smaller.”
    Thanks :D. Stockard.
