Wang Time: Yanks-Angels ALDS Game 2 Thread

The Yanks look to go two up on the Halos against John Lackey, after the BoSox fell into a giant hole against the ChiSox (on that subject, the phrase “be careful what you wish for” comes to mind). Lackey is, historically, a fly ball pitcher, which could be good news for the Yankee bats. On the other side, the Angels are not the most selective team, and that should help good Mr. Wang. If he throws strikes and keeps the ball low, we’ve got to like our chances tonight.

Consider this your thread for tonight’s action. Post away.

  • Jon MIller we love, but a night of Joe Morgan’s ramblings….we’ll be heavy on the mute button.

  • 3 grounders from Wang. Great start.

  • Posted the following in the wrong thread. Whoops:
Um, the monogrammed “A” on the back of the mound? A logo we’d gladly do without.

  • Cano again!

  • When you have but one great hitter, isn’t it imperative he come up in the first inning? Maximizing Vlad’s at bats would seem to be a fairly obvious move for Scoscia. Not a huge deal, but every little bit helps. If the game ends at Garret Anderson….

  • Still, everything on the ground after 2, including the hit and the e2.

  • 2-0. We’ll take it. Now let’s go Matsui!

  • Painful error by A-Rod, as this game moves into its late-middle.

  • Hm. Escobar in, now, and Shields done. We can get to Escobar, no? C’mon, ARod, make up for that b.s. error…

  • What is ARod doing running on a 1-2 count?!?! WTF?? Jeezus…

  • Great showing by Wang. Let’s just hope Leiter keeps this to 2.

  • Oh, I’m psyched. I am. Get to Escobar? I don’t think so — like I was saying, they don’t want to face the bullpen. Shields looked great, Escobar is looking great. Can’t wait for K-Rod. Lackey didn’t look like he had his best stuff, and he was also letting his emotions get to him a bit, but he held them down to two runs and I think that’s as much as you can ask for (and nice bailout by Shields, too).
As for Vlad, all of last season and most of this one he hit #3 and GA hit #4. Scioscia swapped them (he constantly tinkers with the lineup) when GA wasn’t producing and it seemed to have positive results so he left it. GA is not doing much in this series however, which is frustrating cuz I really like him.
Just got back from my aunt’s house watching the game in ESPN HD on a 42″ plasma TV. Man oh man that looked amazing. When it came to extreme closeups on the players’ faces, too amazing.

  • Wouldn’t having no Leiter at all be better than having Leiter? Not that I’m complaining! Go Bengie! Back to back nights!

  • Ugh, Leiter, you suck. Nice meatball to Molina. Feel bad for Wang, b/c I agree, YF, really solid outing from him.
