  • Giambi with the early error…Texeira will look so good playing 140 games at first for us next year!

    krueg August 13, 2008, 1:25 pm
  • God Melky sucks…we need a real CF’er. Don’t tell my wife I said that though…she LOVES Melky. She even has a #28 jersey. Guess we’ll have to moth-ball it with my Drury Sabres jersey and my Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas Fins jerseys!!!!

    krueg August 13, 2008, 1:46 pm
  • All by myself…
    don’t wanna be…
    all by myself…anymore.

    krueg August 13, 2008, 1:47 pm
  • You’re not.. I’m lurking but too busy to comment much.

    attackgerbil August 13, 2008, 2:21 pm
  • I’d post some with you Krueg, but I wouldn’t want to upset Randy “Waiting-for-my-car” SF! ;-)
Delmon Young with another homer. Dude’s been on fire lately.

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 2:24 pm
  • Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas Fins jerseys!!!!
Oh man. Just when I thought I things were going to be cool with us you drop a bomb like this one. ha.

    Brad August 13, 2008, 2:30 pm
  • I had a meeting…I’m back. Yeah Ath, what was up with that douche? Calling you a troll? Whatever.
AG- doesn’t look like much to comment on anyways…

    krueg August 13, 2008, 2:31 pm
  • What grudge could you possibly have with my lowly Fins Brad???

    krueg August 13, 2008, 2:32 pm
  • > doesn’t look like much to comment on anyways
Not much other than Cano needed to turn that play.

    attackgerbil August 13, 2008, 2:37 pm
  • Krueg, I think John hit the nail on the head yesterday when he refered to Randy as our “new” friend.
Rasner with a 10-pitching inning. At 92 pitches… do you send him out for the 6th, especially with the way the Yankee bullpen has performed lately?

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 2:37 pm
  • I’m here, just.. apathetic..

    Lar August 13, 2008, 2:41 pm
  • I’m here, just can’t think of anything to add

    rootbeerfloat August 13, 2008, 2:49 pm
  • I just got here. And, yeah.

    Paul SF August 13, 2008, 2:54 pm
  • i’m here. and the bases be juiced.

    sf rod August 13, 2008, 2:58 pm
  • for d. young (yankee killer) none the less.

    sf rod August 13, 2008, 2:59 pm
  • There are three kinds of people in this world who grew up in the eighties and nineties –
Those who think Elway ruled the world, and those who thought the same of Marino.
I happen to live and die by those that reside in Invesco as much as I do for those who reside in Fenway (I actually lived a big part of my life there).
So, I hold no grudge against the Fish, more just busting your balls is all. I know the last ten years must have been as rough on you as it has on me.
Mostly thanks to Jake Plummer. ha.

    Brad August 13, 2008, 3:00 pm
  • Oh, the third kind are Montana guys.

    Brad August 13, 2008, 3:02 pm
  • Way to jinx Delmon Young, sf rod!
    And Aikman was better, Brad.

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 3:05 pm
  • To clarify, by “better” I mean “I grew up in Texas when the Cowboys still ruled and therefore I like him better”

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 3:06 pm
  • Did Giese get injured? GameDay says “Injury Delay” and then Giese being replaced by Robertson.
And now another “On-Field Delay.” What’s going on, TV watchers?

    Paul SF August 13, 2008, 3:07 pm
  • I was just about to ask Paul. I’m just as confused as you are.
Though if it was indeed Giese who got injured it was a good time to pull him anyways, after walking the bases loaded.

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 3:08 pm
  • Than Montana, I agree.
Aikman, though on awesome teams with numerous probowl recievers and one of the greatest backs in history of the game, can’t compare on any level whatsoever to Elway and Marino as far as gunslinging quarterbacks.
It’s why he’s never mentioned in the list of all time greats. He got his recognition, but ask one hundred people to list the top seven or eight QB’s of all time – he only makes the cut with guys who love Dallas.

    Brad August 13, 2008, 3:09 pm
  • ha. I knew what you meant the instant you said it, Atheose. ha.

    Brad August 13, 2008, 3:09 pm
  • One of the umps was injured

    rootbeerfloat August 13, 2008, 3:14 pm
  • GameDay still says there’s an on-field delay. Sometimes I wonder if they do that to cover for their own technological glitches, but none of the scores I find seems to be updated beyond the bottom of the sixth either.

    Paul SF August 13, 2008, 3:15 pm
  • Sorry, the on-field delay is the ump. I missed what happened to Giese

    rootbeerfloat August 13, 2008, 3:15 pm
  • Some other ump had to go get dressed for the behind the plate work.

    rootbeerfloat August 13, 2008, 3:16 pm
  • How’d the ump get injured? Anyone know?
In Aikman’s defense, his own personal records and statistics took a big hit simply because the offense relied on Smith so often. He was a lot better than his quarterback statistics showed.
Having said that, realistically I know he’s nowhere near the other greats.

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 3:20 pm
  • Melky drops the ball after calling off Cano, who would have got there to catch it

    Polf August 13, 2008, 3:31 pm
  • Brad: Being a Fins fan is brutal. Not only growing up in Buffalo as a fan of the enemy (kinda like growing up a YF in Boston I would imagine) but watching the Bills beat the Fins repeatedly in the playoffs while in high school (89-93)and then seeing JJ destroy what was left of #13’s career while we slowly plummeted to the basement of the AFC East…yeah, it sucks. Of course beating the Pats just about every year made it a little better! :)
Marino is the greatest QB of all time…period. Elway is second. Montana is the biggest fraud in NFL history. I could have thrown 8 yard slants to Rice and Taylor for 90 yard TD’s too. Greatest offensive line, amazing defense…all he had to do was not throw picks and they won. Don’t even get me started…
p.s. Comeback time in the game??? Yeah right. Here comes Big Whiffie striking out or hitting into a DP. (or ARod/Jeter Special as DP’s will be called going forward…)

    krueg August 13, 2008, 3:42 pm
  • Yanks threatening in the 8th. Better do the damage now before Nathan is on the mound.

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 3:42 pm
  • Another K for Big Whiffie…

    krueg August 13, 2008, 3:43 pm
  • P.S. if we pick up Sheffield I’m going to puke…

    krueg August 13, 2008, 3:44 pm
  • Where’s Jeter? I’d have rather seen him PH for Melky than Sexson. Is he injured?

    Atheose August 13, 2008, 3:46 pm
  • K –
The same could be said for being able to sling the ball forty yards to Clayton and Duper fifteen times a game!
Little harder to do all that when the best reciever you ever had came late in your career, and was a tight end!
Either way, it’s like comparing diamonds to diamonds. I’d take either of them over Brady or Manning.

    Brad August 13, 2008, 3:48 pm
  • Krueg –
That’ll never happen. He’s owed fourteen million big ones next year. Detroit makes no sense to me.

    Brad August 13, 2008, 3:49 pm
  • B- The Marx Brothers were great because of Marino, not the other way around. And they certainly were no Rice and Taylor. Two little fast dudes that could catch…
You’re an Elway guy and I’m cool with that. I will never argue the merits of #13 against #7…two best QB’s hands down!
    back to the action…
Fat Bobby comes through!!! come on ARod!!!!

    krueg August 13, 2008, 3:51 pm
  • We just always seem to pick up the washed out garbage of the league…see Big Whiffie.

    krueg August 13, 2008, 3:52 pm
  • Jeter fouled one of his foot last night Ath…not hurt too bad but sitting out today.

    krueg August 13, 2008, 3:53 pm
  • …and ARod pulls an ARod. Awesome.

    krueg August 13, 2008, 3:54 pm
  • I reallly thought the Twins were going to blow it there. Wild pitch on a strike out with two outs? That’s just the sort of way I’m used to Yankee opponents folding in August and September…

    Paul SF August 13, 2008, 3:59 pm
  • would like to see the twins get a little more insurance here…..or do i? could a more informed sf let me know how i’m supposed to feel here.

    sf rod August 13, 2008, 4:04 pm
  • More scared of the Yankees than the Twins, personally, so I’d root against the Yanks here.
Imagine if the Twins had kept Santana, though…what do you think they’d have…5, 6 more wins? They’d be among the elite teams right now (Angels, Cubs, Rays, arguably Sox).

    Devine August 13, 2008, 4:15 pm
  • Cano walks on 4 pitches from Nathan, and it’s Pudge up as the tying run with 2 down in the 9th.

    Devine August 13, 2008, 4:16 pm
  • I think the Brewers might also fit in that “arguably” category with the Sox, now that I take a look at the standings.

    Devine August 13, 2008, 4:17 pm
  • Pudge down swinging. Game over.

    Devine August 13, 2008, 4:19 pm
  • Pathetic trip.

    attackgerbil August 13, 2008, 4:22 pm
  • Low hanging fruit coming up for the Yankees, though, Gerb. Or is it low hanging fruit for the Royals?!
    ;-)

    SF August 13, 2008, 4:37 pm
  • I’m inclined to think it’s six of one…

    attackgerbil August 13, 2008, 4:44 pm
  • The only fruits that hangs lower than the Royals are the Mariners and watermelon.
