  • Blah. Not a big deal. A bigger deal is what’s happening in Seattle right now, where King Felix and Danny Haren are locked in the first pitching duel of the season. Hernandez is already through 5 innings having struck out 7, allowing just a walk and a single. He’s only thrown 65 pitches. Haren’s needed just 47 to get through four, with 2 K’s and a single allowed. God do I wish this game was on TV.

  • Boy, that sucked.
    What ever…

    LocklandSF April 2, 2007, 8:12 pm
  • hey dc, why do you care so much about how the Sox did? It’s like you YFs obsess more about our squad and take more joy in our suffering than you do in your own team’s success. Pathetic.

    SF April 2, 2007, 8:16 pm
  • i’m pathetic…my secret’s out…
    oh, by the way….yayyy!!!…

    dc April 2, 2007, 8:32 pm
  • Seriously, if a Sox fan posted what you posted there’d be no end of “you guys care more about the Yankees losing than the Sox winning” BS. It’s hogwash either way.

  • In case anyone missed it, KC played well today, and that should be acknowledged.

    attackgerbil April 2, 2007, 8:43 pm
  • Oh, not to take anyting away for KC, but you know, it’s still KC.
In a way though, it was good for baseball, it’s one game to us, but it will sell a few more tickets for the Royals, that city needed it more than we did.
    But it still sucked.

    LocklandSF April 2, 2007, 8:47 pm
  • I would like to rephrase my last comment: SF totally acknowledged KC in the parent post regarding teh K to teh C.

    attackgerbil April 2, 2007, 8:48 pm
  • no, because one dc does not equal 51,111 sox fans
you know, yf once wrote “i mainly post about yankees because i’m a yankee fan” …

    john April 2, 2007, 8:48 pm
  • John, what’s the implication there? That Paul and I don’t post mostly about the Red Sox?
If not, then disregard. If so, you’re way off base.

    SF April 2, 2007, 8:52 pm
  • After today’s effort, are we sure this isn’t true?

    SF April 2, 2007, 8:59 pm
  • Hehe, playing the injury card again?
Just kidding, I’m sure Schilling was as healthy as ever.

    Andrew April 2, 2007, 9:06 pm
  • “…no, because one dc does not equal 51,111 sox fans…”
    …yes i do john, please don’t underestimate me…
…sf…i think you’re kidding about my “yay” post, but maybe i should point out that i did the same post on the yankee game thread, and i am happy that the sox lost…i think that’s what the competition is all about…notice i didn’t “yay” about someone getting hurt…
…and, let’s face it, i’m kidding as usual…it’s one stinkin’ game for each team…tomorrow i may be crying in my soup…

  • Speaking of King Felix: 8IP, 3h, 2BB, 12k. Daaaayum.

    Rob April 2, 2007, 9:30 pm
  • Nice summary, SF. Accurate and to the point.
You know what else is teh suck? Waiting two days for game #2.

    mouse - SF April 2, 2007, 9:34 pm
  • So, wait…we’re not going 162-0? Shit!
//In case anyone missed it, KC played well today, and that should be acknowledged.//
That’s true. Meche and Peralta pitched well, and their lineup looked pretty good.
The ovation that Gordon got when he stepped to the plate with the bases juiced was ridiculous. Haven’t heard the stadium in KC that loud in a long time.

    Steve April 2, 2007, 9:43 pm
  • The standing O Meche got was kind of cool too. KC is a great baseball town; the fans there deserve something to cheer about.
Doesn’t mean I don’t want us to spank ’em good on Wednesday and Thurday though. Losing six games in a row in KC is embarrassing.

    mouse - SF April 2, 2007, 9:55 pm
  • I was pretty impressed by Tony Pena Junior. Looked good in the field, and two triples. Solid.

    Tyrel SF April 2, 2007, 10:02 pm
  • Well, dc if you’re crying in your soup tomorrow, it won’t be because of baseball. Yanks and Sox have a day off tomorrow. Good news for our bullpen, which will again be completely rested.

    Andrew April 2, 2007, 10:02 pm
  • Glad I opted out of going to Opening Day. Sox got that loss out of the way. Now they can spank KC for the two games when I’ll actually be there. Got my Soxfan shirt today, so I’ll be representin’ at the Kaufman…
Good things to take away from Game 1:
    Kevin Youkilis is still hot.
David Ortiz is still David Ortiz, despite that ugly K late in the game.
The bullpen pitched well, even if Schilling did not.
    Pedroia got hits.
The new double play combo looked good.
It means nothing, but it’s still early enough to justify the optimism.

  • dear mr. 38 pitches,
thank you for making this forum to interact with fans. my question to you is a two part one. how do you plan on stoping opposing players from interacting violently with your pitches? and, how do you think that interaction will effect you in a contract year? thanks again and god bless.

  • andrew, no baseball for us tomorrow?…both teams already got a day off?…i wish i had their union…

SF, you think a lot is off base. I checked the March archives just for starters. About half your posts were not about the Sox. Most were angry.
Why do you think you’re the only one getting the “lighten up” comments?
“long time reader, first time poster – love YFSF – except all the putdowns”
