  • Did “The Steamer” die or something?
Talk about a twenty-one-years late wish fulfillment!

  • Just wanted to take a moment and wish you all a happy, healthy New Year and thank YF and SF for this wonderful forum. If you are going out tonight, travel safely.

  • Ugh… Bob Effin’ Stanley. The guy who needed to throw just one more strike to beat the Mets in ’86. That can’t have been a coincidental choice, Nick…

  • Happy New Year to everyone, and special thanks to YF and SF for letting me and the rest of us play in their sandbox!

  • Happy New Year to YF, SF and the regulars who make this a really enjoyable and generally intelligent place, and make it easy to participate without the ‘membership drama’ found elsewhere.
Haters with a conscience, or guts, should make the VERY short trip to Norwich (CT, that is, that is just up the road from Mohegan Sun, you know where THAT is) where the Steamer is the pitching coach of the Connecticut Defenders (AA, Giants) and continues to contribute more to the future of the game than you. A real guy doing a real job. (Better hope you’re not in front of the world when YOU have a bad day. Ask Steve Bartman).
Nice little stadium, by the way, great seats, dirt cheap seats & food. Baseball up close the way it was meant to be, & the Eastern League has a pretty good talent pool too. Make a New Years resolution to take your kids to see good minor league ball. (And maybe say a friendly hello to the coaches).
